Is there a PC tool I can download that will separate the different instruments of a song so I can control the volume of the drums. Increasing the volume of the drums would help me keep timing when learning a song. As a tool for my phone the notation is way too small for my old eyes. I never use it.

There are programs that claim to be able to do this.  I don't have any experience with them, but this site has a review of them with links.

One I've heard of that's not on that list is:

Hope that helps!

I have used two types of stem splitters, which are tools to isolate tracks. “Band in a Box” is a PC software program that offers stem splitting, but is quite expensive.

I have also used FADR.com, which is a web-based application and has a free to use service.

Stem splitting has definite benefits, but the drawback that I have seen from the tools I have used is that the audio tracks created are not always as clear and clean as I would like.

When I really want clean tracks I use karaokeversion.com, this is not a stem splitting service. Karaoke version will give you all available tracks on any given song and the tracks will be super clean.

Any tool you use, will require the use of a DAW once you have your tracks. I use Audacity primarily.
