Hi! I’m new to guitar tricks. I know the basic chords and strumming. I also know some fingerpicking. Where do I start? Should I start with fundamentals 1&2, and then go to rock, acoustic and country? or should I start with music theory??
Should I learn music theory?
It mostly depends on your goals. Based on your skill level I would say start by going though Fundamentals 2 looking at it as a review and a way to shore up any gaps in your current skills & understanding. After that it depends on which genre of music you prefer or want to work on. All the style courses are roughly the same skill wise. If more than one interests you, then pick one and work through it and then start on another!
Music theory concepts are mostly taught in the context of the various skills of each course or tutorial. It important to keep your theoretical understanding on pace with your skill level. If at any point you want a deeper dive into various theory topics we have tutorials for that.
You can also ask for a personal assessment of your playing skills or a one-on-one lesson.
Please ask more if necessary & best of success!
