Consistently, it's taking around 5 seconds to fetch the initial page for any of the lessons.  Here's an example for Lesson 1, Fundamentals 1:

This happens every step in every lesson which makes for a pretty clunky experience if I'm flicking through lessons trying to find the right one.  While I realise some of that page is dynamic for the user, most of it isn't.  Please could you think about speeding this up?

In the event that the site doesn't need to load the entire video into RAM prior to starting playback, you could try turning down the video definition from the default 1080 to 720 by clicking "Account" > "Billing & Settings" then scrolling down to the bottom of the page and choosing the new setting. When I did that a few years ago (to prevent sticking and freezes), the change had no significant degradation in video quality but I don't remember if it helped the loading time.

I agree with aliasmaximus.  However, over the years I've seen most of the complaints of slow loading to be locale specific and transient. Right now, sitting in in rural western MT with a DSL speed maxed at 13.1 Mbps my GT lesson pages are loading nearly instantaneously.

Check your settings and/or talk to your internet provider.  Most likely your problems could be your system, your location or your provider.

But, I've been wrong before.  😁

Tom - what network app were you using in that screenshot? I've never seen that interface before and I monkey around with a lot of apps.

BTW, my own experience comports with john's. My internet speed varies wildly and unpredictably. I typically experience immediate loading of videos when speed is over 100 Mbps. When it drops into the teens, they take a few seconds to load.

Thanks for the replies all.

@aliasmaximus - the network app is built into the Chrome browser (but Safari and Firefox both have equivalents).  Usually something like Menu -> More Tools -> Developer Tools.

@john of MT - good point, I'm based in the UK.  That might be a factor.  Round trip to the US should still only be around 0.5s, so 5s feels a higher than I would expect.

My guess is that it's something to do with Guitar Tricks use of Cloudflare.  But I'm really no expert.  If it helps your developers diagnose, I seem to be hitting a California based IP for the request for dynamic content.
