All I can say is based on the questions in the survey they are really out of touch with their client base.  Not one mention of a song catalog.  I was asked if I would pay a fee for a lifetime subscription.. man I cancelled my subscription.. hell no.  There are no songs other than the Rolling Stones which must not give a shit about royalties.  I think they should have saved the money they paid for a survey and buy some new songs and try to pull out of the ditch but that makes too much common sense.  Oh well that's corporate America. Here lies Guitar Tricks may you RIP.. I knew ye well.

We understand your frustration. Song licensing is very difficult right now and we haven’t been able to secure new songs like we could in the past so we have been focusing on other content and features, and if things change we will try to get more songs. We're sorry to see you go, but wish you all the best!

Don't want to be bitchy but I hear a lot of people complaining about the song collection. If you want the latest songs, be willing to pay for it. I would imagine that licensing fees for the latest songs would be substantial. If you're willing to pay 300-500 bucks a year for your membership, I'm sure GT can accommodate you.

Prior to the most recent iterations of the internet, the only way to learn songs was to transcribe them yourself by ear, note by note, chord by chord. Or you could buy a book containing a compilation of popular songs, each transcribed exclusively into open chords played in a monotonous quarter time strumming pattern. And why are so many people in here hating on the Stones? They've never pretended to be a sophisticated rock band. They've always been about having fun, which is reflected in their music. And isn't the dream of having fun with a guitar the reason we're all here?

You could always try writing your own songs, or embellish existing songs. Just look what SRV did with "Mary had a Little Lamb".

I guess these are all moot points, as the creator of this thread has apparently already checked out. Question is, where ya gonna go? Where are you going to find that mythical mother lode of awesome songs?

I know it seems like Admin has lost touch with what students want in terms of song transcriptions. But I can assure you that's one thing they haven't lost sight of because complaints about the song library has been aired en mass and hashed out ad nauseam in this forum since the time of the "big purge" a few years ago. I believe that Admin has limited say in what goes into the library and what gets cut.

I'm sure corporate GT has a budget for the library, which was likely pretty decent during the pandemic when they were undoubtedly flush with cash from the hordes of new subscribers. But a lot of those people apparently left and took their money with them. This may have left corporate to search for economical bundles of songs to lease, rather than leasing every requested song individually (very expensive). Clearly, someone must have decided to lease a bundle of Stones tunes.

So, what can be done to get more student-requested songs into the library? I don't have a f***ing clue. Simply complaining about it to Admin has proven to do nothing. Again, I'm not sure how much say Admin has in this matter. Then again, that's all just speculation on my part.
