Theory on cords

Hello, I justed started out on Fundamentals 1 course and I am enjoying the tutorial so far. We have been playing E Minor, Major chords, etc in the tutorials. However at this point is it important to know what the meaning of minor or major or what the name of the chords mean? or should I just stick to the flow and eventually we will cross these subjects.

Those concepts are covered in later tutorials.  At first it's just important to get your fingers acclimated to the guitar & start making music.  Hope that helps!

Thank you Christopher..that helps. Another hiccup I am facing is when I am changing cords(which is difficult to begin with :) ) I am muting 1 or 2 strings.. maybe because my fingers are FAT :(. is there a way to improve it or it will become better with practise. Is it normal for beginners to have this problem?

That's a very normal beginner experience.  Learning is a constant process of gradual refinement.  Just the fact that you are aware there is a muting issue is progress!  It will improve with practice since you are aware of what needs to be refined.
