I'm a relatively new player, having used GT for about 9 months now. I play an acoustic guitar with steel strings.

I'm looking for suggestions for songs from the song library that others have found particularly useful from a pedagogical viewpoint (and, of course, are also fun to play). For instance, after learning a song, you may have felt "wow, I learned a lot by learning that song". For now, I'm seeking songs that are highly instructive for good strumming and smooth transitions between open chords.

The GT collection titled "Acoustic Essentials" includes (made easy versions of) 7 songs (Sweet Home Chicago, I Got the Blues, Before You Accuse Me, Let It Be, Kiss From A Rose, Imagine, and Runaway Train). Whoever put this collection together probably believes these songs are especially valuable from a pedagogical viewpoint. If yes, I would agree as I've learned a lot from all of these songs (and also very much enjoyed learning them).

In addition to these 7 songs, what other songs would people suggest as especially pedagogically useful? Thanks.

I would take this in a new direction. You have several months and several songs under your belt. I would begin looking for songs that you want to play for the sake of enjoyment, regardless of skill level. You can learn the skills required.

I recommend Wonderwall by Oasis. This classic song uses a simple chord progression (G, Am, C, D) but introduces some interesting strumming patterns and rhythmic variations. Incredibox Colorbox Mustard
