Hi everyone,

I am 22 years old, and one of my favorite things to do is to watch other people play the guitar. It inspires me to learn how to play the guitar as well. To begin, where should I begin, and what kind of guitar should I purchase?

Best wishes!

Hey spykarate! Welcome!

There are two Guitar Fundamentals courses available - both of which assume you are a total beginner, and help train you in the basics you need to know and be able to do in order to move towards playing the kind of music you would love to play.

One of the Fundamentals Courses is produced by my colleague Anders Mouridsen, and the other by me. They both cover the basics, though each of us has our own teaching style and process - so you might check them both out and see if one or the other feels like a better fit for you.

The skills and concepts taught in the Fundamentals Courses are relevant to both the acoustic and the electric guitar. So if you feel you are leaning in one direction or the other, go ahead and buy an acoustic or an electric - whichever interests you most.

And…HAVE FUN!!

Once again, welcome to Guitar Tricks!!!
