Hello, I’m Rose. Beginner at 63 years of age. Always wanted to learn and play guitar and now that I am retired it’s the time to do it.

Question. I have a choice of a regular guitar or a travel guitar to learn and practice on. Is there one that would be better for me, as a beginner?

Thank you in advance.

Hi Rose!

Welcome to GuitarTricks, and congrats on starting your musical journey!

My favorite acoustic guitar for learning is the Taylor GS-Mini. It is larger than a travel guitar, smaller than a full-size guitar.

I have one and LOVE it.

I would have a look at those online, and if the price is doable, for you, go for it. If it's not doable, make note of the dimensions of the Taylor GS-Mini and see if you can find something less expensive that is decent quality, and a nice mellow size for learning.

Have fun!! - Lisa
