The variety of lessons keeps it interesting but it seems that I may start forgetting most of what I am learning and the practical use is vague. I practice everyday and put between 30 min and 90 minutes a day in practice. I am not a fast learner but I am determined. Sometimes the new lessons are hard to understand until I put a few hours in. Not sure where I am going at times. I don't have time to play anything but the lessons I hope this is the right approach.
You are doing fine. The right approach is to practice every day and follow a structured curriculum that is teaching you want you want to learn. That's exactly what GT & regular dedicated practice time is. The only other thing I would add is to learn songs, at least one at a time, to apply the skills & ideas you are learning.
Part of learning & playing guitar (or any musical instrument) is learning, refining, forgetting & relearning. There's so much to learn, play & do in music that it can easily fill a lifetime of career or hobby time. You are bound to learn a chord, riff, lick, song only to move on to the next one & next one, until you eventually forget about the previous ones! But when you come back to it next, as long as you've kept your fingers & mind active musically, it will come back to you quicker than the first time.
Keep going. Don't stop. Hope that helps!
