Hi there!

I just have a general question for Chapter 5: Stripping in all down - Fills between phrases with pick and fingerpicking fills.

I understand the intent of the technique to add more variety in between phrases, and I'm able to somewhat follow along the given examples, but could you share more resources on how I'm supposed to "come up with" my own with pick or fingerpicked phrases?

Other than memorization and copying the given examples, I'm still a little unclear how I'm supposed to build my own fills that would sound good between two given chord transitions.

Thanks for your help!

You should probably post this in Anders' instructor forum so he will see it.

But to answer the question, you're supposed to take the ideas he teaches in the tutorial and change the rhythm slightly, or use the same notes that are available in each chord & scale but in a different order.  Essentially he's shown you the options of notes to use & a few possible phrases.  Now you experiment with those materials with slight (or big!) variations to see what works & what doesn't for your tastes.

Hope that helps!
