Can someone explain to me how to read/understand these? I'm not sure how to read scales, and understanding them, and octaves and all about notes and such. The 2 months that I have been playing guitar I just been playing tabs from other bands, but now I wanna write my own stuff. I have been to just about every website there is that explains this, but I just dont get it. Can someone help me please?

what is it that you are trying to understand about them?
as for reading, are you trying to learn how to read notation? is that what you mean?

Scales? Modes? Keys?

Learn one scale and then transpose it over the entire fretboard to get different keys.

Learn another scale and do the same.

Start a scale from a different note and you get a different mode. Essentially you get a different scale.

Hurt yourself trying to memorize it all in one sitting.

Guitar lessons are a good way to learn this kinda thing. I've always thought one on one instruction is a very good way to learn. But if you cant to that, there are tonnes of books and stuff which music stores sell, you could teach yourself what you want to know.
