I've always wanted to learn to play the guitar and at 53, I'm not getting any younger. I bought my first guitar a week ago and started Fundamentals Level 1 and really enjoying it. Fingers are sore, but playing as much as I can, but then taking a break and coming back to it again helps.

Welcome. You've come to a good place to learn.

Acoustic or electric (guitar)?

Age doesn’t matter at all. Desire is what counts. Started back again when I was 60 and am having a blast. Great community here as you can see from the above messages and a great set of lessons and resources. Just stick with it and have fun!
