Just read about a fun little trick in one of my guitarbooks: Tremolo tapping I think it was called..

You simply hammers the note with the side of your pick; extremly rapidly. Take a look at this one (Hope you'll understand it):

tre-T tre-T tre-T
e|--10--(12)--9--(12)--7--(12)--|
B|----------------------------------------------|
G|----------------------------------------------|
D|----------------------------------------------|
A|----------------------------------------------|
E|----------------------------------------------|

Yeah , it's a cool technique ... If you want more examples , try Joe Satriani's "Surfing With The Alien" @1:08 .

I just heard "One Last Time" with Dream Theater. In the first (I not sure, but one of them) solo John Petrucci, if I'm not wrong, use a tremolo-tapp.. Anyone who can tell me if I'm wrong or not??

There's another method you might try, it's a bit different in sound (higher note is shorter in duration) but I find it easier and can do it faster. You hold the pick at right angles to the string and move it across a fret so that the edge of the pick pushes the string down on up and down strokes. Have fun.
If I couldn't laugh at myself how could I laugh at someone less ridiculous?
