They have gotten better with the neck joints on those guitars but they are still not that great. Also with the faded series it could be worse because if I am not mistaken, the neck pickup is much closer to the fingerboard than in some of the more expensive models.

Also about the finish, just don't sweat the small stuff.. They make paint in cans for a reason... :)
