The other thing to consider is that too much volume on stage is a real pain in the ass not just for you but also for the rest of the band. Drowning out the drums and monitors is just disastrous, sure a full stack looks cool, unless you have to stand in front of it and try and hear your que from the drummer / singer/bass player or keep time with the rest of the band / try and finish the song together.

A half stack is more than enough and an Auralex Gramma is much cheaper than a 4x12 !
