The low end yamaha are a good guitar for the buck. Nothing special but for the price they are an option im willing to explore if i only the funds sufficient enough to purchase one in the price range. Check out harmoney central for more reviews on the model of your choice.
WWSD? What would stevie do?

I've got a 1984 Yamaha SBG1000 that I bought new. I headed out from home that day to buy a Gibson Les Paul Custom that I had been drooling over for months. I ended up coming home with the Yamaha (for half the price!), because it was a better guitar.

I've had a lot to say on this subject, most recently on another Gear thread. Rather than re-hash it all here, I'm going to ask you to click on the search icon near the top of the page. Type in Yamaha as the Keyword, and enter Lordathestrings as the User Name. That should provide you with about a week's worth of reading.

:)

This is an SG2000 Click Here

My 'Brand X' and 'The Stalker' both look just like this, except that they're black, and 'Brand X' has chrome covers on the pickups.

And BTW, the guy selling the SG2000 is wrong about the difference between the SG's and the SBG's. Gibson was threatening legal action over the use of the SG designation. You don't suppose they were worried about the competition, do you? My Harmony Central review is here.

Also, you'll see some ads referring to this series of guitar as being "like a Gibson SG", but actually, its more like a double-cutaway Les Paul.

Only better, of course. :)

I think the PAF Pro/Tone Zone combination will do it for me.

Actually, the SCHB (DP106) on 'Brand X' is pretty close to the Benedetto. It works very well with the Dual Sound, which is a 4-wire version of the Super Distortion. I sent several e-mails to Larry DiMarzio, begging him to either re-introduce the SCHB or custom-build some for me, but all I got back was a reply from the tech department telling me that they aren't available anymore. Well, DUH!
