"When I come Around" by Greenday, and "Glycerine" by Bush.

Same chords just moved down 2 frets. :)
Sometimes I hit notes only dogs can hear.

My first song on guitar was the infamous "stairway to heaven". On bass, I believe the first thing I learned that was a song was the beginning of Iron Maidens "hallowed by thy name". Even though it is played on guitar, it was still cool.

My very first song I learned was "Where is Thumpkin" and it required the use of all of my fingers using parts of the c Major scale.
Mary Had A Little Lamb and Twinkle Twinkle were not far away.

The first real song I ever mastered was Iron Man...solo and all. Then I moved onto Mr. Crowley and Crazy Train.

.......Aaaaawwwww the memories........

I still play everything listed till this day...lol

I started learning guitar because of Randy Rhoads..but Yngwie J. Malmsteen is my biggest influence.

Hah good idea for a post. The first song I learned was Hound Dog by elvis. I didn't learn it right, but I thought I had it down. Now it's like, how can you mess up that! I learned 'Teen spirit' about two weeks later.
So sayeth the Spiffy One

Concerto de Aranjuez by Rodrigo! Actually, it was something from Ulf Goran's 'Tune a day' book. 'She'll be coming round the mountain' I think.

Yep, I remember my first song. The first segment of a song I learned was wipeout, but the first complete song I learned was either "Smells Like Teen Spirit", or "Atwa" by SOAD. I learned them at about the same time. I'm working on the solo for "Smoke on the Water" right now, and I can play it pretty well (I broke a string yesterday doing one of the massive bends out of that yesterday), but I just can't do the fast 16th notes in that solo up to speed. I've got power chords and basics down, now I'm gonna work on soloing.
"Thank God for the power chord!!!"

My first song was a called(I think)Rhumba.Something that goes like:
"Oh you can see them dance the rhumba on a Saturday night
Unde the moon's
silvery light
There is gaity and laughter and the strum of guitars
down on the village square
Here how those claves click
mark the beat
stick to stick
drums and maracas too
That's the rythm of the rhumba!"

And it really screwed me up before I could get it right.

The first thing I've ever played on guitar was the intro from Savatage's "Handfull Of Rain" ... It was my very first day with the guitar , I didn't know how to tune it or even how to play , just messed on the low E-string (I didn't know it was called E then ) , and came out with something similar that turned out to be the real thing a couple of weeks later when I got the tabs and learned to read it. (I was very happy then :) )

The first full song (w/solo) I ever played was of course Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" , and the first one I learned on elec. (w/solo) was Metallica's "Harvester of Sorrow".

I do that alot. :) Just messing around and I'll think I come up with something cool. Then later I'll find out it's already a song. It sucks though when I tell someone I came up with a cool idea and they know the song. Ehhh I hate that. I actually learned Iron Man from Black Sabbath by just messing around and many other songs.

I started out with the basics.
With basics I dont mean "Come as you are", I mean a song
called "Walk on the strings", which consists of eight 1/4
and eight 1/8 on the high E-string. THAT is basic.
This was when I started taking lessons when I was 11,
but I actually played more advanced songs when I was younger.
When I was 6 my grandfather died, and I inherited his guitar.
So I started playing around with it, playing the swedish anthem,
twinkle twinkle little star and those kind of songs.
