Im trying to learn how to play this pattern really fast and im wondering how you would play it:

E--------15--19--15---------
B-----17------------17------
G--16------------------16---

when I play it, it sounds like I'm playing a chord (im not THAT new to sweeping it is just this particular sweep), I have truoble muting it properly.

Do you mute it with your palm or do you realese your fretboard fingers after taking each note? And also do you use hammer on and pull ofs on all the E string notes or do you pick them?

ok when i sweep I dont mute with my palm but I do release the pressure of each finger slightly after I played the dont so it doesnt ring out.

As for picking of hammer-on/pull-off's I tend to hammer-on/pull-off for short 3-string sweeps to get them short and sound like there are played in one sweep; but fot the 6/5/4 string sweeps, I upstroke the second note on the high E, downstroke the third then upstroke the rest.
i.e.

------------12dwn-19up-12dwn-----------
------13dwn------------------13up------
14dwn-----------------------------14up-
---------------------------------------
---------------------------------------
---------------------------------------

hope that helps

When downstriking , use the part of the palm near your picking hand's thumb to mute the lower 4,5,6 strings , and lay your fretting hand on the higher strings to mute.
When upstriking , use your picking hand free fingers (pinky, ring & middle) to mute the high e, and b strings after picking them or keep your fretting hand fingers just touching the string to mute .
Make sure that moving from a string to another should be smooth.

With these particular 3 string sweep , you should pull-off from 19 to 15 ... And same with sweeeps that have exact similar pattern.
Pick like this:

...D..D..D...U.......U..U
E--------15--19-p-15---------
B-----17-------------17------
G--16-------------------16---

There are millions of ways to mute , try them all and practice the ones your most comfortable with ... When playing , you shouldn't be thinking of muting at all , it should come natural (after lots of practicing of course).

---d--d--d--------u--u--u---
E--------15-h-19--15---------
B-----17-------------17------
G--16-------------------16---

start on 16 and pick down down down, then alternet pick 15, 19, 15 up stroke to 17. then begin again on a down stroke at the 16th fret. (play this over and over)

I started learning guitar because of Randy Rhoads..but Yngwie J. Malmsteen is my biggest influence.

I would do both, but just a very small amount of palm muting.

So. If you throw a cat out of a car window, is it considered "kitty litter"?

I think the way SLY does it is the best, to alternate pick the E string notes really slows me down, even if it sounds better, anyway thanks for the help
