What acts out there are pushing the boundaries of music, not just rock? Seems to be that the well's dried up a bit but maybe Im wrong.Maybe it's just that the more inventive groups are not getting media coverage and airplay and so are not getting their music into the stores. Anyone else out there appreciate the Young Gods, Negativland, Devo and Glenn Branca? No one I know's ever heard of them.

Good question, seems like everybody's playing it safe these days. I'm digging deep here, but here's a few ;
Kronos Quartet
Pat Metheny
YoYoMa (has been doing a lot of traditional folk stuff)
-there's an old blues guy who's been doing a lot of stuff with hip hop beats and loops / interesting stuff, can't remember his name.

Wow, Devo and Branca in the same breath! Cool.

Look at the front page of my site...tons of people pushing the frontier...including some ex-Branca collaborators.

In 'Guitar' mag I read an article on some fella called Bob Log. Seems he plays a mutant blues thang on a resonator and bass drum and always wears a fighter pilot's helmet in performance. Anyone heard his stuff or seen him?

If you're looking for an innovative new group you have to listen to Twisted Method. They're a hardcore heavy metal group that's going to have their first album out in mid-July but you can still check out some of their stuff on their site http://www.twistedmethod.com When these guys perform live, they put on a kick ass performace that is seriously like no other. if you wanna see them live, they're going to be performing at ozzfest this summer. if you like their stuff, check out http://www.ufanz.com/teams/twistedmethod for more info and ways to get free autographed gear from the guys.
