I'm no pro either. I've been jamming with some people for a couple years now, though, and it has really improved my playing. I've been playing a little under 5 years now, and I remember being on the verge of quitting after 2 years. I never played with anyone, had no idea what I was doing, and I was completely frustrated with my efforts to learn fingerstyle blues.
I'm really glad I stuck with it. I think my job would have driven me bonkers for now if it weren't for playing guitar.
