I am not to familiar with alot of guitar effects or pedals and such, but I am interested in finding out. I have never tried one of those big pedal boards with like a million-and-one features on it. What are some different ones that I should ask around for?

Go with big trusted names like Boss, Digitech ... And keep away from Zoom.
Also when comparing , check for the higher AD-DA converting.

My 2 cents.

Not necessarily for computer recording directly. I have a friend who records to the computer, but he goes through a mixer and compressor first and he also mics the amp. Not a direct line.

check out the line 6 PODxt. it's around $350 or so but it's got a billion and one effects and it connects to your computer using a USB cable
..figured I'd go find the page..
http://www.line6.com/podxt/listen.htm

the other one I looked at is the pandoras box from Korg toneworks... (they work with VOX too =) )
anyway, the dude at the music store was raving about this thing, then someone else was listening and said the same thing... it's pretty amazing...
http://www.korg.com/gear/info.asp?A_PROD_NO=PX4

from what I understand, this thing is the ultimate in practice equipment and I think it has a line out too....

Just 2 things to get you started on this. But I have to admit, the more you look, the more confused you get! I do anyway..
good luck

So, just so I can understand these things easier, is it simply plugging the processor into your amp? Or do you need to plug it into your computer and then get all kinds of other stuff. I am looking at the Digitech GNX2 and BOSS GT-6. Whats the setup going from guitar to amp? Hopefully you understand what I mean.
