I don't use wierd stuff very oftenly too , just basic types of dist , chorus with clean tones , delays & reverbs , compression , and the wah.
But with tweaking the crap out of these units , I can get very strange sounds like winds,and non-earthly sounds which are very usefull at gigs ... I like to make the audience mouth opened. ;)
