Practice trill with all finger combinations like 1-2, 1-3, 1-4, 2-3, 2-4 and 3-4
develop some senseless patterns all over the fretboard.
that should help

Practice your scales, it helped me....
Practice your scales with a metronome.... I´m practicing with a metronome, and I gain speed accuracy....
So My answer is: practice your scales... =)

A device called "Gripmaster" which comes in three different styles (X-light, light and medium tension) helps strengthen your fingers. I like the red (medium) one. they are available at most music shops and online at places like FQMS for about $12. They really do help.

thanks everyone for the replies.
ive looked at steve vai's lessons at vai.com and he mentions trilling with all finger combinations, but i found this didnt actually make my fingers hit the strings harder, but it did help me with trilling between my middle and ring finger. i guess i just need to give it alot more time
for an example how would u play the trills towards the end of 'for the love of god'?

I personally do not use alot of strength when i play. I play very relaxed with my fingers just touching the strings hard enough not to cause any fret noise. Else i tense up too much which is not too good for my play and my health.
