Marshall preamp rack unit

im thinking the rack is better quality but pod more versatile. am i right?

what should i get

i would go for the line 6 pod cause you'll get more bang for your buck

The pod is very high quality sound, some of the best modeling I've heard ! Any one who says its not has either never heard one or just doesn’t know how to use it. I use one all the time and it is still my favorite toy !

Try looking into an ADA MP1. That preamp pretty much started the preamp "revolution"...
You can get an MP1 for around $150, possibly even less on ebay. Which represents the best tone for the money. The MP1s tone is legendary for rock and shred tones, but also has a good clean tone. The only effect it has is a chorus.
