Hey !..

About 3 months ago i bought myself a Jimi Hendrix signature Wah-Wah (Dunlop, JH-1).
Being told that it didnt just look different from the basic cry-baby, but also sounded different, i was disappointed when i came home and felt there was no difference in the sound between the two pedals. The only differrence was the PRICE !!.. Well now i have played with it for 3 months and learned that for example lowering the distortion increases the effect of the wah-wah, but i still feel i cant get the sound i want.. so if anyone got any ideas what i could do then please mail me or reply here.

Thanks // Jacob

P.S. I know ive already posted this thread, but i wasnt sure where to post, so i posted it both here plus in the gaersection.. i think D.S

I have an old (mid-70's) JH-1.

I like the sound, but I've never thought that it was capable of doing something 'different'. If there's a special sound lurking within, I'd really like to know how to bring it out!

I know you can alter the frequency range of your wah (not the amount of sweep, but where in the frequency you can sweep) by opening the thing up and moving the straight plastic piece with teeth attached to the top of the pedal to a different section of the gear that moves the potentiometer. That probably is a confusing way to say it, but that's the best I can come up with (still on my first coffee of the day).

I'll bet Lordathastrings has already heard of this and done it and can explain it better than I just did.
... and that's all I have to say about that.

After reviewing my post, it seems I could have explained why anyone would want to open up their wah and start fiddling around.

Basically, what happens when you move that little plastic piece (or rotate the potentiometer) is that you are now sweeping a different section of the wah's total range. E.g. your wah has a total frequency range of, say, 1-100. Pedalling from lowest to highest accesses a frequency range of, say, 35-65. Moving the plastic piece (or rotating the pot - can't remember exactly what's needed) allows you to move the pedal range from 35-65 to, for example, 65-95. Thus, you'll be wahing higher frequencies. Make sense?

Anyways, my intel may not be 100% up-to-date on how exactly to move the range since I now own a Dunlop 535Q that has a little knob that does this for me. It should be pretty obvious, though, once you open 'er up.

Let me know how it goes!
... and that's all I have to say about that.

Well i can try .. Haha !!

First take, out the battery, the remove the bottom plate. If you dont take out the battery you might destroy something when you pull away the bottom plate. Once inside you can see a white piece of plastic in the upper end (opposite of the end where the battery is located) off the Wah-Wah. This piece is what stops the little thing that goes up and down from sliding away from the inductor. Loosen the screw and push the White plasticthhing aside. Now you can move the inductor and thats how you choose from where to start and where to stop. I dont know which direction does what.. but just plug it in and try. Also be careful not to push the Wah to hard if it stops halfway down cause then you have changed the inductor to far, so before putting it together again check so you can move it all the way up and all the way down.

Hope this helped..
