I want to record acoustic instruments using ProTools. How do I go about doing this?

Are you recording an ensemble playing live or a bunch of overdubs ?

on getting the sound from the instrument to the computer, capturing an authentic acoustic sound (I don't want to use a midi pickup).
I will primarily be recording 1 track at a time.
What equipment will I need besides recording software (pro tools) to do this?

You might want to consider the power requirements for your mic, most preamps can supply 48V phantom power, it is worth checking into !
