I like speed and grace, that's why Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson is probably my favourite. At his best (1976-84) there was plenty of fire in his playing but he had great melodic content and lots of breathing space. Listen to Exit Stage Left and Hemispheres by Rush, get 'em from a library or something. If you can't stand Geddy Lee's high voice then try the track "La Villa Strangiato", best rock instrumental ever? Maybe!
