To be honest, im sceptical of metallica hitting back big style. everything has pointed to them going down the new age style metal route, from their collaberation with that rapper and james' purchase of the 7-string. Maybe this has little significance to their style, but it is worrying.

As for hammett? well no.

New Bass man, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES? Do you mean Robert Trujillo? I've heard some of that guy's soloing, he's one of the best rock bassists in the world! Please tell me it's him, it's time Metallica got back to kickin' arse like they used to before they went really mainstream.
As for Kirk, everyone here seems to put him down 'cause lots of teenage rock guitar fans have been under the illusion that he was the best in the world 'cause they haven't heard many other talented players, like, for instance, his ex-teacher, Joe Satriani. But Kirk does kick lots of ass, I don't think it's fair he gets such a ribbing.
If I couldn't laugh at myself how could I laugh at someone less ridiculous?

Sure enough Rob Trujillo is the new man behind the bass for Metallica. I can't wait to hear the way he cranks out the old 'tallica tunes live this summer. We'll have to wait and see.

Wahey!! Yippee!! I take it Trujillo is also recording on their new album? I do hope the rest of the band give him space to show off, I think this guy might be a rarer talent even than Kirk. I can't imagine Mettalica with tons of funky slap but I expect it'll rock.

Actually I believe the bass on the album was recorded by their Producer, Bob Rock. At least thats what I've been reading in the Metallca fan-zines for the past year.

Qustion is will he have time to change anything ´cause I think the album is considred as done. But live is another thing. But I doubt that he can beat Cliff. Cliff was really somthing.

Bob Rock recorded the bass lines? Do you think Metallica turned down the volume on his recording like they did with Jason? *growls* I still don't know if I like Jason or not, but man... that was an asshole thing to do.

Man those bass lines kicks a$$ on justice album. But still they are a little bit too loud don´t you think (LOL)!!!

I wonder how Jason felt after the final mix. All I can hear on that one is Lars´ 16-motes/180 bass drum beats.

I dunno, Metallica's reason for turning down Les Claypool and choosing Jason Newstead was that he was "too good."

Les would never fit in. Imagine Seek And Destroy with slapping???

BTW, you probably mean Rob Trujilo instead of Jason.

Nope, Les auditioned at the time they were replacing Cliff.

Les maintains that he thinks they didn't hire him because he asked them if they would like to jam on an Isley Brother's song (as a joke)...

...they didn't think it was funny.

And Les played bass in Blind Illusion - he's more than capable of playing Metal when he feels like it.

Aha, I follow. He was suposed to be Cliffs replacement. I thought we we´re talkin´ about Jason´s replacement. Didn´t know that though.

PS. Cliff died only like 50 km. from where I live. Never drived on that road though but I´m planing to doo it. Wonder if they got any memorial kind of thing where he died. If not, I´ll perhaps fix one ´cause he really deservs it.
