here's another hypothetical question for you guys....if you could put anyone in a band to form a supergroup....who would it be...once again living or dead?
Mine:
Vocals:Bruce Dickinson
Guitarists:Tony Iommi and Yngwie Malmsteen
Bass:Michael Anthony
Drummer:Lars Ulrich
Keyboards:....BACH!!!!
Your brain doesn't move fast enough to comprehend my playing.

LOL, I'm glad you spelled out the conditions on this one.

I'd better specify what band these people were from, 'cause some go way back!

Vocals: David Clayton Thomas (Blood, Sweat, & Tears)
Guitars: David Gilmore (Pink Floyd) and Kenny Wayne Shepherd
Bass: John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin)
Drums: Buddy Rich (headlined his own jazz bands)
Keyboards: 'Tone' Hall (Savoy Brown)

These aren't necessarily the best in the world at what they do, but I think the combination would make a killer Blues band!

Guitars: Slash, Keith Richards and me
Bass: Flea
Drums: Lars Ulrich (featuring Duff McKagen for a laugh)
Keyboards/Piano: Er, Rick Wakeman?

the continuing evolution of my ultimate band:

vocals - Hansi Kursch (Blind Guardian)
Rhythm Guitars - Jon Schaffer (Iced Earth)
Lead Guitars - Michael Romeo (Symphony X)
bass - John Myung (Dream Theater)
Keyboards - Jens Johansson (Stratovarius)
Drums John Bonham (gotta go with the classic)

i think it's called the Iced Blind Symphony Theater

(featuring John Bonham)
To improve technique and of course trying to keep all as clean as possible. I know my own limits and speed limits and so on I never play anything I'm not capable of. That wouldn't make any sense. After three years of playing I tried to play everything as fast as possible and that sounded, I would say, like shit, and I didn't realize that if I'd play bit slower things than I was capable of playing then everything would sound much better.

Throwing my two cents in

Vocals: Layne Staley (AIC, gotta love that voice o' doom)
Guitar: Tony Iommi (Sabbath, nothing quite like the progenitor of everyone and everything that dares call itself metal today)
Guitar 2: Tony MacAlpine (Just because I think he's cool)
Bass/Backing Vocals: Geddy Lee (Rush, because he'd work well with Tony (I think) and he'd sound interesting with Layne)
Drums: Neil Peart (Rush...c'mon, why not?)

Drums: Mark Portnoy, Dream Theater
Bass: Les Claypool, Primus
Guitar: Alex Lifeson, Rush
Guitar: Glenn Tipton, Judas Priest (only heard his solo album, this guy kicks soo much ass)
Keyboards: Jordan Rudess, Dream Theater
Vocals: Mike Patten, Faith No More

Some violin would be nice to. Lifeson's a bit too tasteful and restrained these days (he used to smoke more) so I've beefed the sound up with some Glenn Tipton.
If I couldn't laugh at myself how could I laugh at someone less ridiculous?

Alright, heres mine:

Vocals: Aaron Lewis(Staind)
Lead: Kenny Wayne Shepherd
Rhythm: Jerry Cantrell(AIC)
Rhythm Acoustic: Dave Matthews
Bass: Noel Redding(Jimi Hendrix)
Drums: Chad Sexton(311)

I think that would just be a crazy combination, and I would like to see what kind of stuff they would come up with.

Guitars: Eddie Van Halen and Michael Angelo
Drums: Dave Weckl (don't know which bands but he can rock out)
Bass: Les Claypool

Sometimes I hit notes only dogs can hear.

heavy duty dirty funk's my particular bag. on horns it would have to be Mike and Randy Brecker plus the Horny Horns and the Tower of Power brass section.

For a really filthy groove a dual or triple bass attack is a must - any combo of Larry Graham, Bootsy Collins, Mark King, Stanley Clarke, Les Claypool and Louis Johnson.

Twin drums and percussion - Dave Garibaldi from Tower of Power and Tony Thompson

Guitar - someone who can play restrained funky rhythm and shred when called for. Satch is the man.

Keyboards - Bernie Worrall no question.

Vocals - most of my favourite singers are long gone dead or getting that way. of those living and youngish, Mike Patton'd be #1. plus several attractive ladeez on backing vox e.g. Britney, Shania, Beyonce Knowles.

I would have to say;
Keys......Chick Corea
Guitar....Al DiMeola
Bass.......Stanely Clarke
Drums.....Lenny White

I think the four of those guys together could probably kick some butt. Oh, wait a minute, they already did, sorry...my bag, that's Return To Forever!

Vocals: Rob Halford
Bass: Victor Wooten
Guitars: Steve Morse/Michael Angelo
Drums: Dave Lombardo
Keyboards: Jens Johanson

For live sound at the mixing board: Bob Rock(80's/early 90's)
Stage lighting (The crew for Pink Floyd)
Pyro techs: (Crew with WWE)
I started learning guitar because of Randy Rhoads..but Yngwie J. Malmsteen is my biggest influence.

drums- whoever the drummer is from at the gates
keyboards- I like the keyboardists from both BODOM and DREAMTHEATER

hmmmm....

Guitar/vox:chuck shuldiner(death/control denied)
bass/vox:glen benton(deicide/vital remains)
guitar:jeff hanneman(slayer)
guitar:vogg(decapitated)
drums:gene hoglan(death/dark angel/testament/syl/naphobia)
keys(if any):janne warman(children of bodom)

That would be pretty sick...for a death metal band anyway.

jeff hanneman is one of the most underated guitarists.
He IS a shred god.
boring riffs?if slayer's(old) riffs are a bore Whats an exciting riff?
I suggest listening to Captor of sin,Angel of death,Altar of sacrafice, war ensemble,Hell awaits or to get an idea of hanneman's guitar/songwriting skills.
actually...just listening to everything right up to divine intervention.\m/
