howzit. i've been playing guitar now for about 14 years but over the last 5 years i haven't tried to take it much further. untill i just recently started up my band three months ago.
i am wondering if anyone out there has any exercises i can practice to develope speed, both right and left hand. i've always been a rythym guitarist but i really want to start developing my lead guitar.
i'd really love to get into some satriani, vai and hendrix and any thing else that will help.
if anyone can help, send me an e-mail at bacchus_100@hotmail.com

cheers

Any line you play can be used as a speed exercise , just begin slow , and rise your tempo gradualy (like 5 bpm per time) till you reach the speed you want (you should go a little further anyway).

yeah..running up and down the scales repeatedly from a slow tempo, then when you are comfortable in that speed..move a gear up, faster tempo..and so on. Gdluck :)
