Some types of paints will need you to re-paint the whole guitar body , other types of paint (like most gibsons) can be easily repaired. I'm not sure of the paint types anyway , go to the tech talk section and ask "pstring" , he knows better than I do.
Anyway , some people like to keep those scratches , it gives a vintage look to the guitar.
