I ended up putting 2 extra springs in for a total of 5 (I had to ditch the spring lock plate and use the 2 screw holes for the extra springs. Most floyds apparently do not have such a plate). Anyway, the bridge is blocked tight against the body now so I can't use the bar to raise pitch, and the other strings only go flat by about 1Hz when I bend a whole step, which is tolerable. I can still tighten the trem screws a little bit too if that 1Hz gets annoying.
