basically your fretting hand frets notes and your picking hand taps the strings at other frets to create cool combos that can't be reached or executed with just the fretting hand.

I found some great tapping articles in old old issues of Guitar Player magazine. My former guitar teacher gave them to me to look at, but some of it is still pretty confusing (i've had them for about a year trying to figure them out) They have a lot of stuff where the right hand (or picking hand) is tapping using more than one finger. I've tried soo many times i've lost count, but i cant seem to get it. with just one finger tapping, i think do pretty well, but as soon as i try to move another finger in, everything falls apart. I know people like satriani and vai and probably many many others used this technique, and since so many of you out there seem to be able to play some insane stuff, i was hopin you could lend a hand.

One of the excercises it gave was to play on the high e-string:
(1) (4) [1] [4]
---5---8---12---17--- The fingerings they gave are on top. the ones in brackets are the tapping hand. i need help on my right hand positioning for this kinda stuff too. THanks

As usual when it comes to tapping, I would recommend
that you read Schmanges "All about tapping".
Well as you can see, its really ALL about tapping.
Good luck!

One hand finger tapping is quite easy for me to do. By using left hand on the fret and the right hand(picking hand) tapping the fret you cant reach. More than one finger tapping is beyond my reach.
Yeah dude..the schmage tapping column, did a lot of help to me. Try it. :D
