Musicians are usually artistic in their personality, which often means we rely heavily on emotions for decision-making, and haven't got a clue about technical stuff. People tend to ignore inconvenient facts (like 'tone' comes from your [u]hands[/u]), and chase the easy stuff instead (like buying the same gear as your favourite guitar hero).
