Jimmy Page and Stairway
Does Jimmy Page use a Telecaster or Les Paul in the solo to Stairway To Heaven?

on the album he uses his telecaster with the dragon, live he uses either the les paul or his famous double-neck
To improve technique and of course trying to keep all as clean as possible. I know my own limits and speed limits and so on I never play anything I'm not capable of. That wouldn't make any sense. After three years of playing I tried to play everything as fast as possible and that sounded, I would say, like shit, and I didn't realize that if I'd play bit slower things than I was capable of playing then everything would sound much better.

"Stairway to Heaven" was on the 4th album ... I think at that point he was playing Gibson LPs in studio & live.
I remember I read that he was using Tele's exclusively on the first album only ... May be the second one got some Tele riffs too.
I'm not dead sure anyway.

He used a Les Paul but the solo is done on a Tele.

Ya, I remember the double-neck for live shows, but wasn';t sure about the album version.
