hey nandre. thinner picks works out for me. i use .45 to .50 mm. as a biginner, thin picks  makes one heck of a diffrence, when it comes to struming. it also helps to angle your pic so it woundnt get stuck in between the strings . practice also plays a part as well. i hope this helps
