Hi,

Thought I'd introduce myself I'm new to these parts.

I'm Graham from Glasgow in Scotland(U.K.) and I have been playing guitar for over 15 years.

I'm 30 and I have been in more than my fair share of bands.

My most recent project was a band called Cry Havoc, which was a very 80's style metal sound.

I have an Ernie Ball Musicman Silhouette and a Pod Pro, also got an Omen 7 string guitar for my latest project a band called blind.

I am into anything and everything guitar from Satch to Yngwie, from Vinnie Moore to Randy Rhoads.

So, hello from Scotland.

Dejan Sajinovic, 20 yrs old, livinĀ“ in Sweden (Nybro), orginally from Bosnia (Prnjavor, Banja Luka) lived in SWE since december 1992.

Started playnĀ“ when I was 15 yrs old. Went the traditional way - self thaught, lotĀ“s KISS, Metallica, Guns, Maiden... but now IĀ“m into more extreme guitar music like Dream Theater, Yngwie, Gilbert, Racer X, Becker, Wylde, and little Vai and Satch.

Have a band in wich I played since I was 16. (Same line up since than except that we changed a couple singers) Our real band is called Violation Domain and itĀ“s kind of prog heavy metal. We have 2 demos and our last one is completly instrumental. Right now we are writing new material and plan to recorded it a usual, on the summer.

Also me our drummer and bas player have started a cover band just for sake of money. We have about 60 famous rock songs. Pretty good Ā“cause we were doinĀ“ this only for 3 months now. But we donĀ“t have no name for that band yet and have some trouble as usual with finding a good singer wich seems almost impossible.

PlaynĀ“ an Epiphone Les Paul but have plans to buy orginal Gibson Les Paul. Marshall AVT100 top and 12x4 box. Cry Baby Wah, DS1 Dist, CH1 Chorus, Ibanez II Delay, DĀ“Addario 0.09-0.45 strings.

Beside playnĀ“ guitar I play some soccer and study a little. Still livinĀ“ home (YEAH), but I hope soon to get on tour with my band. ThatĀ“s my dream.

I'm Josh, from Canada. Sudbury Ontario to be more specific. I havent always lived here, I was born in Oakville. i thoughed it sucked living down there. (Sorry if I offended anyone here from Oakville)
I'm 16. I started playing around 6 or 7, but got board with it real quick. Then when I was 13, I took it up again after seeing the part in the Wedding Singer where Adam Sandler plays that loud song where he yells a lot. I was like, "I wanna do that!" So I got a new guitar and have been very seriously dedicated to the instrument ever since.
I like almost every style of music there is, and I like trying to play stuff why beyond my actual playing ability. Its great practise. For about half a year I've been working on speed and feel, and now I am getting into shredding a lot. I tried the self taught thing by buying books, but that went no where. I got guitar lessons and learned to read music, and am in two bands at the moment, where I have loads of fun.
I play an Epiphone SG, but I'm bent on getting myself something with a floating bridge, probably an Ibanez RG, the White one that looks like Vai's guitar.
And God said, 'Let there be rock!'
-And it was good

John, 22, the United States, originally from Vermont, but now living in Southern Louisiana. I'm the resident bass dork.

I've been playing for about eight years now, have two Fender Jazz Basses, a Dean Rhapsody fretless, a Strat and a Telecaster. I'm playing through an Ampeg B5 head (hate it, want to find another Sunn 1200s--a working one this time), and a 2x15 cab. I've got a line on a second 2x15 cab that I'm going to be checking out tonight hopefully.

My main influences include the Stone Temple Pilots, Primus, Morphine, Clutch, Frank Zappa, and a ton of other stuff.

My name is Josh Kramer (yes, like Seinfeld). I'm 18 and have been playing religiously for 4 years, although i originally began when i was eleven. I'm currently living in Chicago, but will soon be heading off to college. I own a Jackson RR5 flying V, and a Jackson DXMG. right now i'm saving up for a Marshall TSL 601 and a POD XT.

currently i desparately want a band but there is no one playing music and shares my taste in my area. my influences are Yngwie Malmsteen, Dream Theater, Iced Earth, Jason Becker, Iron Maiden, Metallica, and a host of others.

Other than guitar, i play lacrosse, and watch the Simpsons.
To improve technique and of course trying to keep all as clean as possible. I know my own limits and speed limits and so on I never play anything I'm not capable of. That wouldn't make any sense. After three years of playing I tried to play everything as fast as possible and that sounded, I would say, like shit, and I didn't realize that if I'd play bit slower things than I was capable of playing then everything would sound much better.

Hello, I'm Bob the old dude. Been playing 21 years, lots of rock, blues, metal bands. Not a shredder - old school I guess. I'm sorta a gear head, playing around with old tube amps and analog effects. Give lessons at times, some in person, some on my website where I dabble in used gear also.
From NY originally, started in bands in Long Island along with Twisted Sister, Zebra etc. Went to college in Buffalo watching Billy Sheehan play in our dorm pub - really inspired me to start playing the bass. Switched to guitar a few years later. I'll be 41 in a month - but still love to jam and listen to Petrucci knock my socks off...

My name is Nenad Knezevic. I'm 16 and I've been playing for a little over a year. I was born in Bosnia (Sarajevo, Ilidza) but now I live in Vancouver Canada. I guess my main influence is Metallica but I also like Led Zeppelin, some british heavy metal, GnR Malmsteen and Clapton. I play an acoustic nylon string guitar though I'm hoping to get an electric soon. Other than guitar I play waterpolo.

David Wanjiru, from Nairobi,Kenya.Turning 24 the Monday after coming.Been plying for almost three years now,but I've been on atechnical tread mill,so I haven't gone that far.
I'm yet to form an opinion on who my influences are,but almost anything guitar can get me to stop and listen.
Do this Graz, there's a thread that's still active titled "How old are you guys?"Look for it(I don't have the time to it myself). In it,quite a number of peole have done the same thing we're doing here, and in it,a veteran here who isn't as lazy as me took the trouble to look up an even older(and longer)thread in which people we're doing the still same thing.I think some of these topics come and go in cycles.
And Rask,I dunno why,but I always thought you're the same age as Lordathestrings.Turns out I was playing ball when you were born:)!
I don't talk about my "gear" around here anymore, for reasons whoever knows what I'm talking about understands,so let's skip the gear part shall we?

Marcus Strand, from Stockholm, Sweden.
Im 18 years old and I've been playing for about 7 years.
I've played classical guitar 7 years, and electric 4-5.
I think I've always liked 80's metal, but since I heard
Randy Rhoads play I'm stuck in the neoclassical world.
Besides 80's metal it's mostly 70's rock.
I play in a band, although we are missing a bassplayer
and a singer at the moment.
We have a dusty, filthy old storage room with asbestos
all over it. It's quite cosy actually.
Its in the basement of our school, and were not allowed to
be there anymore because of some wild partys that has
sort of gone.. ..too wild.
So the school keeps changing locks, and we always
make a copy of that key, so it works out just fine.
Its like being in a highschool-movie!

My guitar is a:
Fender Stratocaster Matthias Jabs Signature Model Limited Fatstrat
and a Starfield 100w 2x12 tube amp that I bought for 200$.
I play on DHS strings even though I dont like them,
and of course I play with Fender Heavy picks exclusively.

Bands I listen to at the moment include:
Whitesnake
Ratt
Poison
Krokus
David Lee Roth
Ramones
10CC
Kiss
Nazareth

Since kingdavid has already outed me as the resident old fart, I might as well fill in some of the missing details.

My name is David Raynes, I'm 50, been playing on and off for some 35 years now. (Jeez, that sounds like a long time - I should be better at it than I am!) I've got two black 1984 Yamaha SBG 1000 double-cutaway Les Paul types, one of which I bought new and modified a fair bit over the years, a Yamaha RBG 350 four-string bass, a Washburn A-20 solid-body, a pair of Washburn Festival Series electric/acoustics, (one a 6-string, the other a 12-string) and an old Odyssey V that I'm about to do rude things to in hopes of making it more playable. I plug these into one of my Ampeg amps, (G-18 transistor 1x8, VT-44 tube 4x10, VT-22 tube 2x12), or Gallien-Krueger Backline 100, via a Yamaha DG Stomp, Peavey Rock Master, or whatever else happens to get underfoot. Yeah, I guess I'm a bit of a gear-head. As you may have noticed, I also tend to return to brands that work well for me.

Back when I was a whole lot younger, I had to decide whether I was willing to risk starving for my music, or get a day job. I haven't played for pay since 1970.... That doesn't mean I haven't been playin' :D
