Hey everyone, I am having trouble getting the 80's hair metal type of sound on my guitar. I have a distortion pedal and a Danelectro cool-cat chorus pedal that gets somewhat close but their is something missing. I am really aiming at getting the C.C. Deville type sound. Also, what is the effect or pedal that will make the notes extremely high pitched? I noticed on Poison songs such as "life goes on" that his solos are VERY high pitched and that the notes can not be reached without some kind of effect. Thanks for your time everyone, take care!

you could get the really high pitched solos with a digitek whammy petal.

The high gain amp simulator of my GNX 1 of Digitech sounds pretty much as 80's distortion. I cant see what so special about the 80's kind of style -- use lotsa reverb, chorus and delay and you should sound as your heroes.
And when you want to have the sound of somebody, I just have to remind you to look for his live sound because in the studio there is a lot of EQ work done and there is no way of acheiving this live
The world is loaded, it's lit to pop, nobody is gonna stop!

An ADA MP-1 preamp with a parametric eq will give you that 80's sound. I recommend a Rocktron Hush II unit along with these though...MP-1 is noisy.

It's gotta be the Aquanet Hairspray!
