That was the only way I played an open G for decades. Granted with a good chunk of overdrive but also, the trick is to be sure the A is, in fact, muted.

If it wasn't muted, then it wouldn't be the 3X0033 chord..... it would be something else. I just don't particularly like this voicing ... 3 X 5 4 3 X sounds far more interesting, in my opinion :)
