Hi

Can I check this with you Mike please.

C minor chord

barred at third fret with finger 1

barre covers strings 5 to 1

fourth fret

finger 2 at B string 2

finger 4 G string

finger 3 D string

E flat Major chord

finger 1 at sixth fret A string 5

pinky covers strings DGB to create the barre

Does the high e string number 1 sound or is it muted by the barre?[br][br]

sorry camera angles make this difficult to see.

I have sent in a few other questions concerning the song.

are these full barre chords as they are not on my chart or are they easier

barres? What is the root note of these chords please?

Hi Martin! Again, I'm not sure which song you're referring to!

Cm chord is correct - the root is the C note 3rd fret of the A str.

Eb major chord is correct - the root is the Eb note 6th fret of the A str.

Both of these shapes are standard barre chord shapes.

Yes you could also add the 6th fret of the high E string on to the Eb major chord. But this is optional - your choice!

Hi Mike,

Sorry the song I was referring to is " It must have been Love" by Roxette

I watched the tutorial video for this song and am starting to learn these barre chords.

Thanks for the previous message about " knocking on heavens door" by Dylan

you said this song used 16th note strum pattern.

I don't understand hiw you explained the 16th nite pattern for each chord.

Could you write out a few chords

G D Am Am7

are used through to this song

you said the pattern for knocking on heavens door is

DD-DUDU

G major chord

The first DD is counted as 1 but is strummed twice to give two strums for these two downstrums

then the rest of the pattern is

DUDU

Counted as 2 -e-and-a

confusing as I was taught

sixteenth note strumming was

1e- and - a per chord

This is a great song could you write the chords with the pattern underneath to show the counting as well, please. Appreciated. Very interested in your song.

Hello - I think there might be some confusion when I say a "16th note strum pattern". When I say that, I don't necessarily mean to strum every beat, but that the pulse of the pattern is subdivided into 16th notes.

So for the D D DUDU pattern - you are not striking the strings on the first 2 upstrokes - they are only down strokes (on beat 1 then then and-of-1). Then on the second beat, you will strum 2 - e - and - a with D - U - D - U.

I suggest you use the speed buttons on the left side of the video frame to slow down the perfomance to see what I'm doing there for the strum.

Hope this helps - let me know how it goes!
