I had heard that he wasn't going on the next tour due to "a medical procedure". But this is still a huge shock. The drummer for, arguably, the greatest rock band of all time is gone.

"Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts dies at 80"

""He passed away peacefully in a London hospital earlier today surrounded by his family," his publicist said."

I heard today that, until he pulled out of this summer's tour, he hadn't missed a show since 1963.

It's been a sad month; Dusty Hill, Nanci Griffith, Don Everly, Tom T. Hall and now Charlie.

"It takes a lot of devotion and work, or maybe I should say play, because if you love it, that's what it amounts to. I haven't found any shortcuts, and I've been looking for a long time."
