Is it possible to barre all strings with just one finger? The side of my index finger, the portion in between the two joints has a sort of arch which mutes the string in that area. Typically it mutes 2 strings. [br][br]

im asking this because I can't play any dominant 7 barres without muting a string.

I just recently bought the Yamaha fg800.

[p]Yes. Every individual has slightly different micro-terrain on their fingers that they have to come to terms with when learning guitar.

The trick is to try to move your finger up & down, tilt it, or roll it slightly until you find a position in which you can barre all the notes required. I cover some of those options in this tutorial on barre chords for beginners.

Alternately there are many ways to play dominant seventh chords that don't requirebarring or all the strings. I cover some of those dominant 7th chords in these lessons.

Hope that helps!
