Hey - haven't been playing too long, but I like to supplement the Guitartricks lessons with learning songs. The selection here is great, but there are a lot of songs I'd like to learn not available (mostly heavy guitar rock - Sabbath, Zeppelin etc.). Anybody here use Ultimate Guitar Pro? I'm thinking of the subscription version, looks like it's about 30 bucks a year. Would be willing to pay that. I know that there is a free version, but it appears the premium version has an interface that I'd prefer.

I have an android phone, downloaded GuitarTab app...it's not the best but it's not hateful. Used it a handful of times to find riffs and stuff....it was free so that's a bonus... got to watch ads for some stuff but maybe worth a look

I subscribe, and for $30/year I will keep doing so. When I want to learn a song, I just type the name of the song, and guitar, and lesson or chord into my google search box and usually there are a number of hits. Some are better than others but I look at a few and sometimes do my own version which is a hybrid (when there are differences) that suits my skill level and personal taste. I often don't like very accurate versions as much because the guitar part is in the context of a band and to play that version as a solo guitarists doesn't always work as well. I like Ultimate guitar to learn the chord changes. For some of the more detailed stuff I like videos by any of a number of people where they are talking you through different sections (kind of like the song lessons on GT).

Thanks folks. Did go ahead and spend the 30$ on the pro version. First impressions are really good - recommend!

I tried to get info on the Pro account, but no matter which link I clicked on, they hammered me with popups asking a bunch of questions. When I got the 3rd one I left. Two things on websites that are deal-breakers for me. Annoying popups and difficult to get pricing info. They checked both boxes.

David,

I use the Pro Version and think it's great. I use it a lot for exactly the way you described. And the Pro Tabs seem really accurate and just a few songs a year, to me, make it worth the cost of the Pro membership.

It's too bad dbvirago had the experience he did. I did not have that experience. In fact, I'm not even sure how I got the Pro membership. I obviously signed up but don't remember doing it. I did exactly like you did. I asked about it on a forum (different one fron this) and it was recommended. Next thing i knew I had the Pro membership.

But I'm also really glad I signed up for it.
