Rock and Blues Lessons - Electric with Headphones

Looking forward to taking the Rock and Blues lessons. Now shopping for an electric guitar. Only own an acoustic now.

taking the Fundamentals then acoustic lessons. I listen to the lessons on earbuds and strum very lightly. [br][br]

I need to play the electric with headphones most of the time when taking lessons to lessen the 'noise' in the house. [br][br]

Thinking of a practice amp like Smart Grid spark or Boss Kitana. How would I listen to the lesson through the laptop headphones and the amp at the same time. [br][br]I can't install software on my laptop as it's locked down othwerwise I would consider an audio interface for lessons and practice.

Most (all?) solid state amps have a "line in" or "aux" input where you would run the jack from your PC 'speaker out' into it. Then, once you plug your headphones into the amp you would hear both the instructions from the lesson and the noise you where making with your guitar.

It's the only way my wife allows me to play.

You can connect the laptop to the Positive Grid Spark amp via Bluetooth, I think only the katana air has Bluetooth in the katana amp range.

Now why didn't I think of plugging my laptop speaker out into the amp, and then plugging headphones into the amp. I have a audio interface in the mail. I could have saved myself $60.
