Hey everyone,

I've been playing guitar since March, and have been doing the basic chords for a long time (E, G, A, Am, D, C, etc).

Yet, I still have some issues sometimes, particularly with D and Dsus4. It looks like my index and middle fingers are crunched together.

How does my fingering look like, especially D and Dsus4?

Do my index and middle fingers look okay?

It looks like your middle finger is definitely bending in an unusual way, and pretty cramped up. Here's a random D major chord I found on Google:

My urge would be to straighten the fingers out a bit more, scoot the palm closer to the headstock.

That "looks" much better, but hopefully it feels good to you and also sound good. Basically, that's much more of what a D chord from a good player looks like. :)

Also, how is my C-chord?

Is that okay, or do my fingers need to bend more?

As long as all the notes are ringing clearly you should be all good!

Your thumb is way to high over the neck, try getting that lower or behind the neck.

What is the rule of thumb (haha) for how high to put your thumb?

What about when using your thumb to mute the E string; cause then it has to be pretty high, right?
