Greetings everyone, from the frosty epicenter of Covid-19 in Scandinavia.

I was climbing the walls during the latest lockdown of my workplace, and decided to tidy up in the basement - where I found my old Santana acoustic guitar I got for my 17th birthday from my parents.

It's been 28 years since, and haven't touched it for 27½ years. Amazingly, I could tune it without snapping any strings, and started strumming the (very) few chords I managed to learn back then.

Wife was less than impressed with me. Happy wife = happy life, so determined that this time I was going to learn how to play, I picked up a "silent acoustic" guitar, found guitartricks by their excellent online reviews and set out from the top.

Currently ~75% through GF1 with Lisa McCormick (who is an excellent teacher!) and taking my time, making sure to correct all the bad habits I picked up as a teenager.

Good luck to everyone here, and fingers crossed that we all reach our goals! My (not very modest) long-term goal is to be able to play Asturias by Isaac Alebeniz.

/Jesper

Welcome Jesper ! This is a good site with a lot of enthusiastic and helpful folks who are always willing to help out. Don`t hesitate to reach out on this forum if you have questions or just need some encouragement !

BTW, I`m just curious : What exactly is a "silent acoustic guitar"?

Probably something like this from Yamaha moosehockey18.

A little pricey, but mighty impressive.

& hello and welcome to GT forums Jesper.

Hi Jesper,

welcome from one of the other frozen north(s) - Canada. Similar story to yours: I still have my 1st guitar which I purchased at 17. Took almost all of my very 1st paycheck from the Canadian Navy. Took me 38 years to begin the process of learning to play it.

Good luck.

This year the diet is definitely gonna stick!

Hej på dig och välkommen :-)

Good luck with learning. This service and forum is very helpful. keep it up!

I am just starting my second year and I really do not regret the investment.

Cheers, another student from Sweden (Sthlm).
