Hi John - yes, if we stayed in G major, you'd expect that chord to be F#dim to fit into the key.
But sometimes, songs will modulate into different key signatures, as is the case here. In this song, we move to C major for the chorus (and the solo section). So now, the analysis for each chord of the chorus, in the key of C is - Am (vi), C (I), G(V), F(IV) C(I).
Many songs will modulate keys from section to section, or even borrow chords from a different key within a section (modal interchange). It keeps things interesting!

The song is in G so the F would be F diminished. And the sheet music has F#. However in the video you play F natural barre chord.
