Well everyone......I am 53 and always wanted to play guitar, I have a high school music background with the clarinet, trombone and tuba. Like everyone later in life I wish I had stuck with music. So a week ago I decided to take the plunge, not a second mid-life crisis, just tired of tv, computers, phones and all the mental distractions. I knew right away I was not playing for Whitesnake I spent $400 on a guitar and amp......I found this sight/app.......as i started I thought oh crap what am I doing??? Thanks Lisa McCormick your "teaching a rookie" skills are awesome, and I remebered quickly "practice makes it perfect, or easier" so what I am saying if you are older have some patience, even if it is 15 to 30 minutes a day, you will see it starts to pay off. so DON'T GIVE UP one minute you will sound lke your strings all broke and than all of a sudden it all starts to string together...............and thanks LISA!!!!!
Don't give up!!!!

That's awesome! Welcome!
One of the many reasons I was always afraid to learn is that I thought only little kids could pick up a musical instrument. Far from the truth! It's awesome once you get that little push of confidence you need to even try.
So glad you are on the site, I agree...I'm tired of tv's, too. Isn't it great to tune everything out and just play the guitar? :D
