Hi everyone,

I'm new to Guitar Tricks and I would like if someone could give an advice from where to start.

Currently what I know:

-Open chords and I can easily change between them;

-scales: C major ionian, D dorian, E phrygian F major lydian

-I'm exercising scales, with metronome, max speed 140 bpm(rythm 2/4)

-Songs: Deep Purple-smoke on the water, Scorpions-rock you like a hurricane and Metallica-enter sandman

Thank you,

Alex

At the beginning, Guitar Fundamentals Level 1 https://www.guitartricks.com/beginner.php .

You'll speed right through the stuff you know and can play until you hit something you don't and can't. I have a hunch you'll be into one of the styles courses very quickly, then the choice of genre is yours based on your interests.

Review of things learned before takes little time... jumping ahead and missing something can slow one's progress. Follow the lesson plan... it's a good program.

Don't forget the Songs library.

Good luck, have fun.

Good morning and welcome,

You already know quite a bit so you have put real effort into learning the guitar, but it sounds like you might be learning without direction - which is fine up to a point - I still pursue things just out of curiousity. But I think at some stage you will want to set some goals for yourself. And as John mentions, dropping by the Fundamentals wont hurt you. You should be able to breeze through them in a few days by the sounds of it.

These goals may be to learn a specific genre in more detail - I will use my example as I can speak to it: Blues. Since deciding to go down this rabbit hole I have put together a list of "must learn songs" of this genre and of course learning licks of the 3 kings: BB, Albert and Freddie.

You may want to be able to write songs - if that is the case you would benefit from some theory lessons.

Or you may want to have such fretboard mastery that you can jump into any jam in any key and have total command of what you are playing. That is a talent I am really envious of, but I know how it came about for those who can do it - lots of work and study.

The goals and direction for each of us are different. Think about what you want, even in the short term and enjoy the process of learning guitar.

Also, it is a really good idea to learn to use the seach tool. This site has information all over the place and it can be hard to find by just blind searching.

Good luck.

This year the diet is definitely gonna stick!
