Hi everyone! I am someone who has always had interest in the guitar, as I came of age when Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and such burst out in the early 90's.

[br]However, I am also very very good at procrastinating and making excuses, whether it be not having the gear, the time, too busy at work, etc etc.

[br]Well I guess the one benefit of isolating at my house through the pandemic has destroyed all my usual excuses, and after finally feeling like a zombie after months of Netflix binge watching decided its time to do something productive.

[br]Bought an Epiphone SG G400 Pro (in beautiful pelham blue), Fender Mustang Lt25, and all the accessories. The SG body style just makes me want to pick it up and play, however the wife would have murdered me if I spent $1k plus on a Gibson. That will be a prize for myself later on.

[br]A little over a month ago started working through the lessons here, and at 1st was thinking what have I got myself into. I had no prior experience playing and my fingers did not like the the new things I was asking them to do. But only a month in I am seeing real progress! I did have to take a lesson break and do basic repetitious exercises for the 5 major chords and switching betweem them (the D chord just gives me headaches, but it is getting better), but I am excited to see where I'll be next month, six months, and a year from now!!

[br]Let's Rock!

I feel your pain. I was self taught as a teen and learned the major chords and toughened my fingers quite well, then I began to work on my career and let the guitar slip away. I am retired now and started playing again and for the first time take real lessons. Toughening the fingers was a big challenge but I fought through it. I am a bit older so I lean towards music of the late 60's and 70's however I think they all have their challenges. Keep picking and strumming!! There is nothing better than to hear that guitar sing out what you are trying to play!!
